Hi, I'm Rebecca Ann
I'm a writer, guide, traveller, dog mum to Ziggy, stepmum, "Ma" - and a woman still figuring out her next chapter in real time.
I believe we're allowed to change our minds, outgrow old plans and begin again as many times as life asks us to.
My own life has included career changes, loss, rebuilding, packing up my home and taking life on the road. I haven't navigated any of it with a perfect plan.
I've done it through small decisions, flexible routines and tiny steps that helped me find my footing again.
Now I share what I'm learning with other midlife women who are wondering:
"What do I want this next chapter to feel like?"

For years, I was busy building the life I thought I would keep.
I had a long career in local government, a home, a family and a fairly clear picture of the future.
Then life changed.
I became a widow at 44, stepped away from the career I had known for years and found myself trying to work out who I was now - and what I wanted next.
There wasn't one big breakthrough.
I started with the things directly in from of me: making the bed, creating simple routines, sorting through what no longer fit and giving myself permission not to have every answer.
Those tiny choices didn't fix everything overnight.
But they helped life begin to feel lighter.

I used to think changing my life required one brave decision and a perfectly mapped-out plan.
What I've learned is that our next chapter is usually built much more quietly.
It begins with making the bed when the day feels heavy.
Clearing one drawer when everything feels cluttered.
Taking a short walk when your energy has disappeared.
Looking at your numbers when you've been avoiding them.
Or asking yourself one honest question:
"What do I need in this season of my life?"
Each step may look small from the outside, but small steps create evidence.
Evidence that you can keep a promise to yourself.
Evidence that you can make a decision.
Evidence that you're not as stuck as you feel.
That's how I began creating a life that felt like mine again - and it's the approach I still use today.
No dramatic reinvention.
Just one small, meaningful step followed by another.

These days, my life looks different from the one I once imagined - and I'm genuinely okay with that.
I rented out my home, packed up The Freedom Rig and headed north with Ziggy beside me.
The journey hasn't followed a neat itinerary. There have been detours, changing plans, new work, new friends, family time and plenty of moments when I've had to stop and ask, "What makes sense now?"
That's what creating a life that feels lighter looks like for me.
It isn't about escaping real life or having complete freedom every day. It's about building enough flexibility to respond when life changes.
I'm still working, writing, creating and figuring out what I want my next chapter to become.
I don't have every answer.
But I've learned to trust the next small step.
I no longer expect myself to have every part of life figured out at once. Instead, I ask what season I'm in - and what that season needs from me.
PAUSE -I stop pushing and give myself room to breathe, feel and listen.
RESET - I gently clear what isn't working and rebuild a few simple routines.
REIMAGINE - I explore what I want now, without forcing myself to know the whole plan.
BUILD - I turn those ideas into small, practical actions I can repeat.
I move through these seasons again and again.
There's no perfect pace and no falling behind - only the next step that fits the season I'm in.
